The mission of the Lord Fairfax and of the Central Virginia Small
Business Development Centers (LFSBDC and CVSBDC, respectively) is to create and retain
jobs in the private sector by providing business assistance to new and established businesses.
Business counseling and related services are provided at no charge.
Assistance is offered in the following areas:
- business start-up
- operation analysis and review for existing businesses
- financial management
- marketing
- business opportunities and requirements for going into business.
These Small Business Development Centers offer the following services:
- strategic planning
- business library
- business plans
- review of good practices
- financial analysis
- financial planning and budgeting
- licenses and taxes
- business loan assistance
- marketing
- personnel assistance
- production planning and control
- site location analysis
- sources of financing.
The LFSBDC serves businesses in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison and Rappahannock counties from its locations in Culpeper, Middletown and Warrenton. A
represetative of LFSBDC is at the Daniel Technology Center, Germanna Community College in Culpeper, on Tuesdays from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Call (540) 937-2919 for appointments and further information.
The CVSBDC serves businesses in Orange county from its locations in Charlottesville and, by appointment only, in Orange.
There is no charge for counseling and technical assistance provided by the representatives
of these Small Business Development Centers. Fees may be collected, however, to recover specific
client approved charges for such items as printing, computer time, and postage.
A nominal fee may be charged for training workshops.
