Michelle Davis came into the WIA program, in the adult (AD) category, on October 10, 2013. She is a single mother and was unemployed and needed to acquire some training for employment. The last long term employment she had was with a book store that closed. When she heard about the WIA program through the Orange Workforce Center, she was driven to see if she could get some training in a career that would be in a high demand field and financially better for her family.

Michelle entered the WIA program with a GED that she completed in March, 2013; that was a significant accomplishment after being out of school for many years. She also took the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) assessment twice to be able to move forward with training.

The WIA program was able to offer her Certified Medical Assistant training with Lord Fairfax Community College and she is presently working the mandatory externship with Orange County Free Clinic to complete her training. She will then take the state exam and be ready for employment.
