Reina had been in the health care industry for most of her working life but it took a toll on her physically and emotionally. Yet, she had been interested in doing hair “all my life.”

She found out about the Culpeper Cosmetology Training Center, that she didn’t realize Culpeper had, through the Culpeper Career Resource Center (CCRC). Reina researched the Cosmetology Training Center and found a lot of what she liked: “I would still be serving others and that aspect made me happy.”

Reina found that it was easy to apply for admission and for student aid to pay for tuition. She credits two staff members at the Career Center and her instructor at the Cosmetology Training Center for helping her avoid a potentially adverse turn in her life. Reina needed transportation and found she qualified for a loan under the Wheels to Work program to purchase a car. She wants to let “anyone know who needs a fresh start in life…go to CCRC—and become involved with changing their journey.” But, Reina deserves much credit for her own success because of her determination to succeed.

She will graduate from the Cosmetology Training Center in August, 2015, and thereafter will take the Virginia Board for Barbers and Cosmetology exam to become a licensed hair dresser.

Reina concludes: “This career will change my whole future. I will go from struggles to comfort.”
